This was us: Me (Jenny), Walter, Kenny and Mia
2020 was a tough year on so many levels, for so many people. This picture was taken with my iPhone propped up against a flower pot at our family farm in Minnesota.
KP loved the farm and we had gone there for his 43rd birthday. Unbeknownst to us, it would be his last earthly birthday. I am glad we chose well that year.
Three months later after this photo was taken, we would be sitting at our kitchen table on the phone with Kenny's first Oncologist and we would hear the words "metastatic adenocarcinoma" and "chemo is only to stop the spread, this cancer is incurable." Two weeks after that, we would say goodbye to our Husky, Mia. The following day, Kenny's second Oncologist would confirm his diagnosis and would add the phrase, "most people don't live a year." Less than seven months later, Walter and I would say goodbye to Kenny.
This is our story. The story of how we battled Stage IV cancer, the reflections of our life together and the confessions of how Walter and I are now rebuilding our life.
Confession #1: Kenny wins. Now what do we do?
